What I have found is best, when planning for a wedding, is to come up with an order of service, and then plug songs in from there. A sample order would be:

Prelude
Family seated
Candle lighting
Groomsmen/groom entrance
Bridesmaids' entrance
Bride entrance
Vows
Rings
Unity candle/communion
Kiss
Bride and groom exit
Bridal party exit
Postlude

When thinking about choosing music for the ceremony, it really depends on your preference. There is no "right" or "wrong" to picking music for a wedding, since it is your wedding, and the music will reflect your personality and tastes.
