Join me for a workshop on How to Run a Summer Camp.

This presentation is designed to help you answer: • What kind of camp do you want to run? • How long will your camp be (how many days and how many hours each day)? • How will you structure each day? • If you want to create your own camp, where should you start? • How much will you charge? • When should you start marketing (and where/how)? At the end of this workshop, you will have the information you need to answer these questions for your studio, along with a plan of action for this year's summer camp(s).

You will walk away with a clear idea of what camp curriculums are available for piano teachers, what a day of camp could look like, starting tips for writing your own curriculum, a planning timeline to keep you on track, and sample emails and a registration form for communicating with parents.

Upon purchase, you will receive a link to the recorded presentation to view on demand, and your 16-page Planning Guide in PDF form, which will serve as your workbook during the workshop and your reference tool once the presentation is over.

This is a DIGITAL DOWNLOAD purchase. You will not receive any physical items.

Review staff note names with beginner students when you play this fun Candy Box game! Students choose their boxes and collect their favorite candies as they identify note names.

Four different game boards for your choice of play: Landmark notes (bass F, treble G, and middle C); Line notes (both staves); Space notes (both staves); and mixed Line and Space notes (both staves).

You decide whether students will compete to get the most candies before the game ends, or celebrate each other's sweet-filled boxes when the game comes to a close. Play in private or group lessons. A fun activity for Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, or any time of year!

This is a digital download (PDF) product. You may reproduce as many copies as you like for your own personal studio use. Not for distribution or resale.

The Great Music Race Piano Camp is a four-day, two-hour-a-day camp designed for piano teachers to use with children ages 6-10 with no musical background or beginner piano students in their first or second year of piano lessons. Students will be captivated by the racing theme and will enjoy hitting Boomwhackers, making a splash with water games, and playing the piano, all while learning important musical concepts of steady beat, the musical alphabet, stepwise direction, keyboard geography, and simple score reading. Students will engage in multi-sensory learning through listening activities, workbook practice, water games, Boomwhackers (or other rhythm instruments), and time at the keyboard. At the end of the camp, students take home their workbooks with more activities to extend their learning.

Goals of The Great Music Race Piano Camp include: 1) Teaching and reinforcing foundational musical concepts; 2) Having fun with music through a variety of activities; 3) Equipping students with tools to continue music-making independently; and 4) Generating excitement around making music independently and in a group.

This is a DIGITAL PRODUCT and you will not receive any physical materials. Your purchase consists of a zipped folder that includes the following digital PDF files: 1) The Great Music Race Get Started Guide; 2) The Great Music Race Teacher Guide; 3) The Great Music Race Student Workbook; 4) Piano Camp Beginner Activity Cards; and 5) Piano Camp Beginner Activity Printables: Rhythm cards, Rhythm Playing Cards, Treble Clef Flashcards, Build-a-Keyboard Pieces, Letter Cards, Keyboard ID Cards, and Step Directions Cards.

The downloaded PDF documents will give you all of the information that you need in order to run your camp, including lesson plans, daily schedules, and ideas for a culminating celebration. Please check the Materials List in the images to see what else is required. Most items can be found around your home. (Boomwhackers are an optional purchase, and if you choose not to use them, there are ideas for alternative activities in the Teacher Guide.) Additionally, you will need to print out the Teacher Guide, Student Workbook, Activity Cards, and Printables.

The Great Music Race Piano Camp is a great way to introduce prospective piano students to your studio and give them a taste of what piano lessons might look like. It is also a fun supplement (or alternative) to summer lessons for first or second year piano students. Many of the included activities lend themselves nicely to further use in the piano studio throughout the year as review games.
